W.I.N. B.I.G. Method

Wonder about the Initial cause

Investigate Wants

Name Possible Solutions

Build a SMART Plan

Insure Action

Give Affirmation

Breakdown

Wonder about the Initial Cause

Wonder about the Initial Cause

Wonder about the Initial Cause

This is where we get Team Members to identify his or her inner issues.

Questions during this stage should help them gain Self Awareness. As well as not solving the problem.

  1. Inform them of what is happening.
  2. Ask them if they know why this is happening.
  3. Refer back to the Core Values and Team Norms.

Investigate Wants

Wonder about the Initial Cause

Wonder about the Initial Cause

Focus on the vision. When goals are clear there is a way better chance of achieving them. The best way to get someone to be motivated while at work is to bring their future career goals into working here.

  1. Explain how you are here to help them at work and for their future.
  2. Ask them what they want in the future and how work can play a role in reaching that goal.

Name Possible Solutions

Wonder about the Initial Cause

Name Possible Solutions

This is what is the problem-solving phase. As well as where we uncover many possible ways to tackle the issue.

  1. Name solutions to the problem.
  2. Have the Team Member come up with some solutions to the issue.
  3. Together come to an agreement on A solution or multiple solutions to the issue.

Build a SMART plan

Build a SMART plan

Name Possible Solutions

Once some solutions have been made, we will now develop a SMART battle plan/Goal. Details in this plan are very important.

Specific

Measurable

Achievable

Realistic Time

Time Bound

The more detailed we are in our SMART battle plan, the more likely our goal will be achieved.

Insure Action

Build a SMART plan

Give Affirmation

This is where we hold the person accountable and make sure that action is taken. If there is no one to ensure the action is taken they are way less likely to work on what is needed.

Check-in a few days after the meeting.

Check-in at mid-goal reached date.

Check-in at goal reached date.

Give Affirmation

Build a SMART plan

Give Affirmation

This is where we hold the person accountable and make sure that action is taken. If there is no one to ensure the action is taken they are way less likely to work on what is needed.

Coaching never ends and even after the goal is reached make sure the Team Member knows that we are always here to help them. Coaching and support never ends.

When should this be done?

WIN BIG meetings should be done in the office or the dining room with a Manager. This is so that we can devote all of our attention to the Team Member and not get distracted.

Why this method?

W.I.N B.I.G is a new way for us Managers to help our Team Members with struggles that they are having. This can range from not knowing how to do something correctly, to doing something that does not support our Team Norms or Core Values. This system will help us managers to talk to team members in a more positive way. Team Members that I have talked too see us as more instructing or telling them what to do. This will help us to coach rather than instruct. This will help them to be more motivated and keep our culture more positive.

Things to Understand:

We are here to help our Team Members but let them discover his or her own truth.

We can help them clarify what they really want and who they want to be as they move in that direction.

Listening is a huge key to success and paying close attention to what they are saying is beneficial.

We need to create space for our Team Members to say whatever is on their mind.

The more listening we can do the more likely they are to follow through on their their goals.

Before we develop the SMART plan it is important that team members are completely aware of what is going on in the situation.

We are not here to instruct or order. We are here to Coach. Yes, we are managers but we are above the average manager. We Coach because we want the best for our Team Members. We want to influence and inspire them to be the best they can be.

Following the WINBIG method will help us to reach that goal.

The most important thing we want team members to take out of this is that we are invested in them and we are here to help them grow in all aspects of life.
